Highlights of the Tamang Heritage Trail Trek:

Itinerary

Arrival in Kathmandu
You will be greeted by a representative from Sawasdee Nepal and then escorted to our prearranged hotel in downtown of Kathmandu. After a short rest, you will be at the office site of Sawasdee Nepal to discuss our upcoming trip. In the evening, you will attend a grand welcome dinner where we enjoy Nepalese cuisine and a cultural program. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi (1460M)
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi by bus via Trisuli Bazar and Dhunche( popular town). You will witness nice scenery of White Mountains of Mt. Annapurna II, Manasalu, Ganesh Himal and other minor peaks are visible from Kakani (along the route) and as well as green scenery of hillock, rivers, village, while driving to Syapru bensi. Syabru bensi is an attractive village with large stone houses.

Trek from Syabru Bensi to Gatlang (2238M)
From Syabrubesi, which serves as the usual starting point for the Langtang Valley and Gosainkund treks, we will take a different route.Instead of heading towards these destinations, we will embark on a 1.5-hour ascent to a viewpoint offering stunning vistas of Ganesh Himal, the Gosainkund range, and the Goljang Valley. After relishing the scenic beauty, we will descend to the Goljang Valley, which is approximately an hour’s walk away, where we will stop for a delightful lunch.
In the afternoon, we will continue our trek for about three hours, eventually reaching Gatlang, a picturesque Tamang village renowned for its beauty and cultural heritage where we’ll stay overnight.

Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2380M)
Today’s walk begins by descending to Thangbuchet, by a lovely river. After lunch, the trail heads up again, across a hanging bridge and climbing to Tatopani, your stop for the night. The town’s name literally means ‘hot water’ in Nepali, and there are towns of this name all over Nepal. Unsurprisingly, here you can enjoy the natural hot springs, with water that comes straight out of the ground. Locals believe that the waters have a healing quality, and it will certainly ease away any aches and pains from the trek.

Trek from Tatopani to Thuman 2238
Our adventure today takes us on an ascent towards Nagthali Danda, a picturesque grassland. We pause along the way to enjoy a delightful lunch. Continuing our journey, we climb further until we reach Nagthali Danda. Here, we take a moment to savor a warm cup of masala chiya (tea), expertly prepared by the caretaker of the local gompa (monastery). Afterward, we descend towards Thuman, a welcoming Tamang village known for its friendly inhabitants who delight in singing and dancing.

Trek to Thuman to Briddim (2239M)
Our journey today commences on a relatively level stretch of the trail, which later descends towards the village of Timure. This section of the trail holds historical significance as it once served as a trade route to Tibet.
Although the border with Tibet is nearby, current regulations prohibit crossing on foot, and the area is closely monitored by authorities. After a refreshing lunch, our trek proceeds towards Briddim, yet another charming Tamang village.
Here, you will have the extraordinary opportunity to stay in a local home, immersing yourself in the authentic culture and lifestyle of the Tamang community for a truly unique and memorable experience.

Trek from Briddim to Syabru Bensi (1460M)
Today’s journey involves a leisurely three-hour descent, leading us back to the charming town of Syabrubesi.
Upon reaching Syabrubesi, we will enjoy a satisfying lunch before immersing ourselves in the afternoon’s activities, be it relaxation or exploration.
Syabrubesi, although small, offers an array of experiences, including the opportunity to browse through local shops that showcase handmade crafts by women, Delight in the vibrant colors and intricate designs of aprons and shawls, showcasing the unique local style.

Drive to Kathmandu from Syabru Bensi (1350M)
Today, we drive back to Kathmandu via same way takes 6-7 hours to get in Kathmandu valley. Arrival in Kathmandu guide will transfer to the hotel and rest of the time simply relax at the hotel or explore the local area and overnight at hotel.

Departure From Kathmandu
Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you’ll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination.
